A blitz of a boy was Timothy Winters - Charles Causley
lyrics
Timothy Winters came back from the war
not too sure what he was there fighting (sent there) for
they sent him back to a hospital bed
while they took the shrapnel from his head
peeling paint on whitewashed walls
the whitewash was on more than bloodstained halls
all the king's nurses and all his medicine
put timothy back together again
Chorus
(So come one angel, come on ten
Timothy Winters says 'Amen'
Amen Amen Amen Amen
Timothy Winters, Lord)
found a job but he felt exposed
the parked cars, people in the shadows
garbage bags left on the side of the road
looked like they might explode
he had trouble leaving his apartment
tried to get some money from VA department
they took one look at the state tim's in
and said preexisting condition
I know a woman who tried to help
She went to school not just for herself
Tried to get a job at the VA
but they had no salary to pay
he finally got himself a girlfriend
she took one look into his eyes and said i think i can mend him
he looked into her eyes and said
i wish I were dead
One day he didn't answer his phone
They say he went into the kitchen and turned on the stove
Waited until gas filled the kitchen
They only found pieces of Tim
